Life After Death

This old house, with no steps, porch, or awning, still had some signs of life. Yes, the front of the house was showing lots of raw wood and several different types of siding. Yes, most of the glass was missing from the windows. And yes, there was a new and menacing “No Trespassing” sign on the door.

But, there was a myriad of cats, peeking out of almost every shadow. And, there was a stick propping open one of the few windows that still had glass in it. And, the tangled pile of rusting bicycles, chained en-mass to a “No Parking” sign, all had tires that were aired up.

This was a “throw-away” house that attracted pets, people, and items that others had discarded. I felt that the house was happy just to be a home again.
