Harsh Reality Art Exhibit

The Harsh Reality Series is a set of 22 pen and ink sketches depicting various views on homelessness and poverty.

Good Luck

This prized architectural relic sits just across the freeway from the Convention Center. For years, the covered driveway offered a cool and dry respite from the heat and storms. You could almost sense the shapeless figures moving around in the shadows.

Not long after I did this drawing, someone bought the building and promptly put a tall chain link fence around it. A few weeks later, the building was torched – gutting it. I figured that all was lost, but the owners persisted, and finally restored the building. Ironically, it became the “Good Luck Law Offices”. How appropriate.

The law office only lasted about a year, and then closed. No one uses the Good Luck building now. It was too good for those who really needed it – not good enough for those who really didn’t.
